  • What is the Best Zip Codes Search?

We know that sometimes, you don't yet know the exact location of your practice and may not be ready for our full Demographics Analysis. If you have a geographic area in mind and simply want to know the absolute best zip codes to start a new practice, we can help! Our Best Zip Codes Search is specific to a General Dentist, Orthodontist and Pedodontist and can also be performed for the other specialties.

  • What can't I just use the "Dentist to Population Ratio"?

The ratio is often used as an indicator of dentist saturation in an area. The problem is that it does not account for how often people in an area visit the dentist or how much they spend. For more information on how knowing the dental spending patterns of an area helps you make a better decision, read the article here.

Our Best Zip Codes Search is based on the criteria that are statistically most important to a successful dental practice. Each zip code is analyzed not only for growth and income, but most importantly for the actual dental collections generated from the population of that zip code. This provides you an opportunity to not only be confident that these are truly the best zip codes, but to further identify what makes each zip code the best. For example, in our Top 10, you may find one zip code that stands out because it has very few dentists while another makes the list because it has several dentists but a very large sum of money spent on dentistry. We are the only dental demographics company that does this for you.

  • What do I get in a Best Zip Codes Search?

The Best Zip Codes Search is an extremely cost effective solution for you to immediately narrow down your search to the top zip codes within a broad geographic area.

The Best Zip Codes Search includes:

  • A map with the location of each of the Top 10 zip codes within your geographic search area.
  • A table of the Top 10 zip codes with the core factors which affect its desirability (Population, Dentists, Income) and the Desirability FactorTM which gives a clear comparison of that zip code's desirability compared to the average zip code in the U.S. We account for 1 new practice in the zip code, to accurately portray the effect of your practice on that area.
  • A table of the dental services market in each of the Top 10 zip codes, featuring a Collections / Dentist ratio (a rough approximation of potential production for a practice), Per Capita dental collections, and Adjusted Dentist to Population Ratio. This clearly tells you the relative saturation of dentists in an area, while accounting for how likely people are to visit the dentist and how much they usually spend at the dentist.
  • A table of the demographics of each zip code in 2014, and the projected 2014 Desirability FactorTM
  • Likelyhood of patient third party financing approval based on employment information, homeownership, average salaries, number of employees, household liquid assets and debt to income ratio.
  • Several charts that allow you to visualize and rapidly compare the above information for each zip code.
  • A summary of what we see, explaining the unique features of the zip codes returned in the search, and which of the Top 10 are worth investigating further.

  • What can't I just use the "Dentist to Population Ratio"?

The ratio is often used as an indicator of dentist saturation in an area. The problem is that it does not account for how often people in an area visit the dentist or how much they spend. For example, in a rural area, a ratio can be 3000:1 and an suburban rea can have a ratio of 1500:1. However, if we actually look at the dental expenditures (money spent at dentist's offices, including out of pocket and insurance payments), it turns out that that the per capita expenditures in the rural zone are $200 per capita and $600 in the suburban zone. This tells us that the urban area is actually a better site for a new practice, because out of the 1500 people "per dentist", many more of them will be actual dental patients!

The dentist : population ratio is not what you should be using to compare zip codes! Unfortunately, this misconception is still promoted by demographics companies who don't understand dental expenditures and don't offer this information. For more information on how knowing the dental spending patterns of an area helps you make a better decision, read the article here.

  • What is a Demographics Analysis?

More than just a simple demographics report, a Demographics Analysis is a full-featured, comprehensive examination of all the important demographic, economic and geographic factors that affect the potential of a particular location for a dental practice. An analysis goes beyond the tradtional demographics report by helping you thoroughly evaluate how each demographics variable directly affects a dental practice at that location. In fact, our demographics analysises are so comprehensive, they are often required by dental financing companies for practice startups, because the effect of a location directly impacts the success, or failure of a dental practice startup. Whether you are negotiating a lease on a location or considering a practice purhcase, you deserve to be fully informed about how that location will affect the dental practice. A TE Demographics Analysis will ensure that your start your practice knowing exactly the competitive advantages you have, as well as how to overomce the competitive challenges you will face.

  • What’s included in my TE Dental Demographics analysis?
  • A map with drive time areas surrounding the proposed practice location in three increments (your choice of drive times, usually we recommend 5/10/15 min for suburban areas and 10/15/30 for rural). This is a much better predictor of where patients will come from than the generic “surrounding zip codes” method used by other demographics companies
  • Demographic information of each of the drive time zones, including population, median income, and yearly dental expenditure per person
  • Breakdown of expected demand for specific dental needs (pedo, ortho, 3rd molar extractions, perio, endo, complex prosthdontics in each drive time zone).
  • Traffic information for major highways and intersections in the area, helping you determine the best visibility location for signage for your office
  • Employment information for the zip codes which fall within the largest drive time area, including number of employers, average salaries, major industry types, helping you plan your insurance participation strategy
  • Competition analysis with a map of dentists within geographical area and breakdown of dentist/population ratio for each drive time zone
  • Production analysis, using actual per person expenditures in the drive time areas along with the number of competing dentists in the drive time areas, we can give you an accurate projection of what you target yearly production potential would be.
  • In depth information about the population, with financial informaiton including average liquid assets, debt to income ratios, unemployment, homeownership, and even psychological dental buying behaviors.

and most importantly...

  • In depth analysis of all the data to help you make informed decisions and achieve the best return on investment. That's why we call is a demographic analysis and not just a report!
